GCBC FULFILLS ITS PLEDGE OF GH₵100,000 TO SUPPORT DAM SPILLAGE VICTIMS

The Ghana Catholic Bishop’s Conference has handed over a cheque of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis each to the Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp  and the Bishop of Keta -Akatsi Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD,  in support of victims of the affected areas of the Akosombo Dam Spillage.

The donation was made at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS), Accra, Friday 27th October 2023, in fulfillment of the pledge of the sum of one hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC100, 000:00) announced by Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani Diocese and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), on behalf of the Conference, and published recently on the front page of Ghana’s National Catholic Weekly, “The Catholic Standard”.

Very Rev. Fr. Clement Akwasi Adjei, Secretary General of the GCBC, on behalf of Bishop Gyamfi, President of the Conference, handed over the cheques to Archbishop Kwofie and Very Rev. Msgr. Peter Huletey , Vicar General of Keta- Akatsi Diocese, (for Bishop Kumordji), to assist the Dam spillage victims.

The GCBC has also appealed to all the twenty Arch/Dioceses and Vicariate to raise funds from their parishes and institutions to support the effort of the Conference. All relief items (cash and kind should be directed to the National Catholic Secretariat, Accra.
